​The Entry Certificate in Business Analysis™ (ECBA™) is one of the fastest growing certifications in business analysis to help advance your career. This course will introduce you to the certification, its requirements, and how to study for the exam.

Overview

​

ECBA™ is an acronym for Entry Certificate in Business Analysis. Pursuing ECBA™ provides aspirants with a certificate that recognises individuals entering the field of business analysis. 

ECBA™ covers the foundational knowledge on business analysis according to the BABOK® Guide and showcases that an individual has the core knowledge and competencies for the in-demand field of business analysis.  The certificate highlights an individual's expertise and certification by the leading authority in business analysis, IIBA.

Note:  ECBA™ is also commonly known as 'Entry level business analysis' or 'Level 1 IIBA business analysis.

The focus of the course will be:

 

• On understanding the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK®) v3.0;

• Acquiring fluency in the terminology of the BABOK®; and

• Identifying the tools and techniques part of a Business Analyst’s toolkit. 

 

The BA Practice's Entry Certificate in Business Analysis (ECBA™) training entails:

 

• An interactive question and answer review with an IIBA® certified instructor;

• Discussions based on the BABOK® version 3.0; and

• Collaborative learning and practice questions to improve the learning process and help you gain the ECBA™ credential.

Our participants will receive:

• An e-copy of the BABOK® Guide v3;

• A relationship diagram of knowledge areas elements, inputs, outputs, guidelines, and techniques;

• A guide to help participants through the application process; and

• A Course Completion Certificate with a minimum of 21 Professional Development Hours. ​​

Exam Prerequisites

​

• Ensure you register an account with the IIBA;

• Complete a minimum of 21 Professional Development (PD) hours within the last four years. Your hours can be logged and tracked here;

• A training completion certificate will be provided to you by The BA Practice with the minimum PD hours required. View course schedule;

• Agree with the IIBA Code of Conduct; and

• Agree with the IIBA Terms and Conditions.

• KA 1: Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring;

• KA 2: Elicitation and Collaboration;

• KA 3: Requirements Life Cycle Management;

• KA 4: Strategy Analysis; (out of scope of ECBA course from March 2021 onwards)

• KA 5: Requirements Analysis and Design Definition;

• KA 6: Solution Evaluation; (out of scope of ECBA course from March 2021 onwards) and

• Explore Guidelines, Techniques, and Key Terms.

Course Objectives

The BA Practice course material is aligned with the latest BABOK® v3.

 

For Level 1, the following proficiencies are the measurement criteria for the competencies. Expressly, each learning objective will be stated as:

 

1. Basic Knowledge - Has a fundamental awareness of essential skills and knowledge involved in the competency.

2. Understands - Recognises the critical elements of the competency and why they are essential. However, not expected to have the experience or skill level to act upon the competency.

3. Follows the rules - Ability to adhere to prescribed ways to work to execute activities related to the competency. Generally, it needs management and guidelines to perform tasks.
